This exhibition presents the original polaroids used by Ed Fella in his well-known book "Letters on America" showing the littering of American Streets. He is clearly inspired by small, often handwritten advertisements on bus stops and bill-posts, the sign-boards of small shops, the typography of road signs created by unknown "local artists". He combines these with a penchant for all things local and native, a noticeable current in the U.S.A. since the era of pop-art.
Ed Fella, (born in 1938). A graduate of Cranbrook Academy of Art, USA. He belongs to the group of CAA graduates whose deconstructive graphics are often characterised as demanding, incomprehensible, chaotic - sometimes even ugly. Other critics regard them with enthusiasm and, without reservations, assign them a place in the history of design.
