HENRIK SPOHLER

Areas of Data Processing represent the reverse side of the IT-society. Stereotype, grey rooms in which even the coloured internet wires offer no clues concerning the direction of the processed data. At the heart of the IT-society, procedures are as invisible as in the synapses of the human brain. Due to this level of abstraction, these pictures become an allegory regarding the rapid multi-tasking nature of data in digital times. These faceless, deserted structures are a comment on the aesthetics that a civilisation on this level creates for itself.
Henrik Spohler, (born 1965), studied photography at the Folkwangschule / University of Essen and has been working as a photographer in Hamburg since 1994. Spohler has received numerous awards for his works and is represented in both private and public collections. His most recent publication was "0/1 Datflow", 2004.
